JABEE stands for Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education
|
|
- By assessing and accrediting the engineering education programs provided by institutions of higher education such as colleges of technology and universities, JABEE ensures the international equivalency of the quality of education the colleges and universities offer.
- Engineering education means educating students to be sensible and trustworthy engineers with enough basic knowledge and expertise who have the ability to apply creatively the knowledge and expertise to various problems to solve them.
- Engineering education programs include not only the educational goals and the curricula of each institution but also the whole process of teaching all the students and the outcomes achieved by them and even by the graduates.
- JABEE was admitted to full signatory status of the Washington Accord by the unanimous vote of existing signatories at the 7th Biennale Meeting in Hong Kong, China on June 15, 2005.
The Washington Accord was signed in 1989. It is an agreement between the bodies responsible for accrediting professional engineering degree programs in each of the signatory countries. It recognizes the substantial equivalency of programs accredited by those bodies, and recommends that graduates of accredited programs in any of the signatory countries be recognized by the other countries as having met the academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering.

The ultimate goal of JABEE is to raise the level of engineering education programs in Japan to a global standard.

The engineering education program of our college, "Communication and IT-based Design Engineering" was accredited by JABEE in 2003.
|
|
Our engineering education program will be assessed by JABEE for the second time in 2008.
